Lots of anglers now use measuring sticks so that you can accurately know how far out you are fishing or set up multiple rods at exactly the same distance.
Just stick the rods in the ground with the 3m (10ft) cord in between and either hook your hook on the foam or slide your feeder over the stick and then count how many wraps you are around the sticks.
