Use bentonite when
- Fishing rivers or canals with flow
- Fishing deep water
- You need the bait to reach the bottom fast
- You want balls to stay tight and accurate
- Using method feeder and need a slower breakdown
How much bentonite to use in groundbait
- General rule
- 5–10% of the dry mix
- Roughly 1–2 tablespoons per 1 kg of groundbait
- Always start small. You can add more, but you can’t take it out.
How to mix bentonite correctly
- Dry mix first
- Add bentonite to dry groundbait and mix well.
- Add water slowly
- Bentonite activates with water and swells.
- Let the mix rest 10–15 minutes.
- Check consistency
- Too soft → add a little dry bait
- Too stiff → add water spray, not a pour
- Sieve if possible
- This gives perfect texture.
