Resembling a small brown pea, they have earned a reputation as one of the finest baits available for a wide range of coarse fish species.
While traditionally used alongside Hemp Seed for roach fishing, Tares are equally effective when targeting carp and tench and can be fished either on their own or as part of a particle mix. They are also regarded as one of the very best baits for barbel, with many specialist anglers rating them even higher than hemp or sweetcorn.
One of the major advantages of Tares is their ability to absorb flavours and attractors. Adding a few drops of your favourite flavour or essential oil can further enhance their pulling power and help create a unique bait presentation.
Their dark colour when prepared also makes them less visible to birdlife, making them an excellent choice on venues where nuisance birds can be a problem.
For preparation, soak Tares for 24 hours before boiling for approximately 25 minutes until fully cooked and ready for use.
