Uses
- It is generally used as an additive or component in a ground-bait mix (rather than as a complete mix by itself) to provide sweetness, attraction and digestibility.
- Sweetness & aroma: The biscuit meal makes the mix attractive to fish like roach, bream and other “silver fish” or smaller coarse fish — fish which respond well to sweet, light meals.
- Digestible texture: Biscuit meals tend to break down reasonably well, making them suitable for feeding fish that pick up and digest quickly rather than large “ball style” heavy mixes.
- Mixing versatility: You’ll often see biscuit-based ingredients used to lighten a mix or add a sweet base alongside more oily / heavy ingredients (hemp, fish-meal, ground pellets).
- Sweet flavour component: In venues where fish have seen lots of standard mixes or are finicky, switching to a sweet biscuit base can help hold fish longer in the swim.
- Treat it as one component in your mix: For example, include the biscuit meal at perhaps 10-20 % of your dry mix (depending on overall mix strength and target species) and then add your other ingredients (crumbs, ground-hemp, particles, etc).
- Adjust moisture: Because biscuit meal absorbs water and breaks down differently from heavier meals, you may need slightly less water if you want faster dispersion.
